Kanban, for example, which can be combined very well with agile working, is also directly oriented to the lean principles; with Scrum, we also talk about the Scrum values: Agile is therefore someone who aligns his actions as best as possible with the values and principles of agile methods. What does the agile manifesto got to do with Scrum?

Based on many years of experience in lean manufacturing and systemic organizational development, an agile strategy process seemed to fit the corporate culture and participative creation. The strategy work additionally lent itself as a self-contained project for trying out agility.

As a manufacturing company, E-T-A has long had good experience with Lean. Since 2019, we have also been working with agile methods and according to agile principles. We see Lean and Agile as sister disciplines that fit very well together. As Managing Director, I am involved in this further development of the organization, together with our management team and the group of Agile coaches.

E-T-A has been using lean in production for years – and is expanding its capabilities with agility. As part of our joint work in agile transformation, E-T-A and wibas colleagues meet to work together on establishing agile techniques and agile thinking. The values and principles of Lean and Agile frame and thus limit the options of the scaled agile patterns. That means, the different Scaled Agile models are not competing. They are rather complementing each other. This is one more reason not to rant, but to look, compare and learn. Do not reinvent the wheel. SAFe and the other scaled agile models provide a big benefit.
